The Brazilian Financial System (SFN) and the Green Economy
FEBRABAN, in exercising its socioenvironmental responsibility, has been engaged in a series of studies about possible ways to leverage the transition to a Green Economy in Brazil using resources originating within the Brazilian Financial System (SFN).
Jointly prepared with other organizations, such as associations and financial and academic institutions, the studies represent a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to align the operations of the banking industry with Brazil’s commitments within the scope of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change by extending the dimension that each issue addressed must occupy on the country’s agenda on climate change in years to come.
The Brazilian financial industry has achieved international recognition for having incorporated the principles of the Green Economy into its operations. Thus, the purpose of the studies presented here is to enhance this contribution by identifying business opportunities associated with the Green Economy, while exploring solutions for the challenges it faces in the climate change and socioenvironmental field.
