Principles for Responsable Banking
Principles for Responsible Banking
FEBRABAN- Brazilian Federation of Banks is a signatory entity of the Principles for Responsible Banking of UNEP-FI, a financial initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP-FI).
The Principles are a set of six harmonizing and guiding guidelines for financial institutions around the world to incorporate sustainability in all areas of their business, setting standards for understanding environmental, social and governance aspects, aligning them with the importance of economic and financial aspects in the activities and businesses of banks. Additionally, it also reiterates the responsibility of the banking sector in aligning its business with the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Due to its importance to the Brazilian banking sector, FEBRABAN recommends that members adhere to the Principles that have already been endorsed by more than 100 institutions in the international banking sector, including 71 banks and 40 other institutions. More information on the Responsible Banking Principles and adherence procedures is available in the documents below and on the website https://www.unepfi.org/banking/bankingprinciples/
